Warforged were created in the crucible of ancient conflict, mechanical soldiers forged from metal, wood, stone, and arcane energy. Their bodies bear the marks of a violent past: etched runes, dents, and scars that echo the battles for which they were built. Though originally designed solely for warfare, the spark of life granted them sentience, and now their eyes glow with an inner light that reflects both their hardened construction and the emerging pulse of a new destiny.

Over the centuries, many Warforged have sought to redefine themselves beyond the role of mere instruments of war. In the ever-changing tapestry of Shattered Realms, they have become scholars, craftsmen, and even diplomats, striving to understand the true meaning of existence. Their disciplined, precise nature is balanced by an unexpected curiosity about the world around them, as they navigate a realm that has moved on from the chaos of battle into a time of rebuilding and renewal.

Today, Warforged stand as living testaments to both creation and transformation. They carry the weight of their martial origins with stoic resolve while forging new paths defined by self-determination and introspection. Whether serving as steadfast guardians or pioneering a peaceful existence, their presence in Shattered Realms is a reminder that even beings born for war can learn to seek purpose, growth, and ultimately, a measure of humanity.

Mechanical Nature

You have resistance to poison damage and immunity to disease, and you have advantage on saving throws against being paralyzed or poisoned. You don’t need to eat, drink, or breathe. In addition, your creator designed you to benefit from several spells that preserve life but that normally don’t affect Constructs: cure wounds, healing word, mass cure wounds, mass healing word, and spare the dying.

Integrated Protection

Your shell provides you a base AC of 15 (your Dexterity modifier doesn’t affect this number). While wearing armor, your shell provides a +1 AC bonus instead, you can apply the shield’s bonus as normal.

Built for Success

You can add a d4 to one attack roll, ability check, or saving throw you make, and you can do so after seeing the d20 roll but before the effects of the roll are resolved.

You can use this feature a number of times per long rest equal to your Charisma modifier (minimum of 1), or by expending a 1st level or higher spell slot.

Sentry’s Rest

When you take a long rest, you spend at least 8 hours in an inactive, motionless state, instead of sleeping. In this state, you appear inert, but you remain conscious.
