You gain combat mastery over unarmed strikes and brawler weapons, including shortswords and any simple melee weapons that aren't two-handed or heavy. Your unarmed strikes count as melee weapon attacks.
You gain the following benefits when unarmed or wielding only brawler weapons and not wearing armor or wielding a shield:
- You can use your Dexterity modifier instead of your Strength modifier for the attack and damage rolls of your Unarmed Strikes and brawler weapons.
- You can roll 1d8 in place of the normal damage of your Unarmed Strike or brawler weapons. This damage increases to 2d8 at level, 11 and 3d8 at level 18.
- You can make an Unarmed Strike as a Bonus Action.
Some training centers use unique brawler weapons, like nunchaku or kama. Regardless of their name, use the game statistics provided for the weapon.
If you moved at least 10 feet, you either gain a +5 bonus to the attack’s damage roll (if you chose to make a melee attack and hit) or push the target up to 10 feet away from you.
